A life storm rarely announces itself before it descends. We had know way of knowing that our world was about to change.  When the brutality was upon us, I only knew one truth. We had to survive. And the only things between us and utter destruction…was our faith, our hope, and a loving force called God. 

I originally wrote Blessings Are Like Butterflies as a simple poetry story to give people of all ages the inspiration to find daily gratitude. It was short. Sweet. Ready to be published in under a week.  And it would have been a completely different kind of piece if I hadn’t honored the sudden call to share a particularly painful time in our lives. 

As the second year of the pandemic unfolded, we were being prepared for the coming of crisis. With no understanding of the twisted road ahead, we were launched into a downward spiral,  flitting from trauma to trauma within a pressure cooker of suffering. It was heartbreaking and nerve rattling and it caused us to wonder whether God had forgotten us.  

Within the pages, I share a poignant expression of my inner world and rise to the challenge of revealing parts of our past story that I truly have always wished to keep to myself. I do so with great humility and devotion, believing that there is deep purpose within these kinds of heavenly inspiration. I share our testimony in reverence to the divine that granted us so much at a time when it felt like we had nothing but the despair that drowned out the light.
